digital cleanse: it's like a colon cleanse for your mind. yep, I said it!

I really do like (no, LOOOOVE) these. Digital cleanses, that is. And if you know me well, then you know where I'm comin' from.

I am just finishing the last week of my 'Mandala Meditations' program with my group, and this would be a perfect time for all of us to step away from the computer, as we focus-in on our mandalas and step away from any digital distractions.

And, while we are on that subject, I just want to give mad props to my very first 'Mandala Meditations' group...all of the beautiful women that have participating have been SO wonderful and so incredibly open to the whole process of using the creative process as a vehicle to simply connect to their 'inner wisdom'. It's been such an amazing group to work with, and if you are reading this ladies, THANK YOU for the love and generosity you have been sharing with me and with each other...

So, anyway, as a little 'final' exercise, I wanted to encourage everyone to step away from any digital distractions (computers, social media, television, etc...) as much as they could. Why? So that they could focus-in on the creative process, and tap into their creative wisdom - that's where all of the answers are. On the inside, where your higher self resides, your infinite soul. This also helps to take away the environment of 'comparing' yourself to other peers, and worrying about whether your artwork is good enough, or whether you are doing something 'right or wrong'.

Don't get me wrong...everyone has been doing such a fantastic job at supporting each other with kindness and gentle feedback. But, sometimes, you have to cut the cord. And trust in yourself. And not judge yourself. Because, that is where the ego (your own ego) could do some serious damage. And we don't want that, now do we? This is where we, as artists, could allow ourselves to make mindful decisions --- to let our own intuitive minds lead the way, without distraction, without the need for approval from outside sources, and without attachment to outcome.

Before social media was ever even conceived (ahem, like centuries ago), could you imagine Rembrandt, Henri Matisse, or Picasso --- or even a more recent artist, like Andy Warhol --- posting their artwork online, just to see how many 'likes' or 'shares' they would receive?

I know. Pretty silly, when you reeeeally think about it! That would be kind of hilarious to witness, actually. I'd LOVE to see that in action.

It's funny how technology can be such a great tool, yet your worst enemy. Everywhere I go, people are plugged into their smartphones, laptops, ipads, or whatever --- including, moi...TOTALLY guilty of that, no doubt. It's addicting, I know. But, when you've got your face glued to the screen 24/7, it can't be that healthy.

So, I'm going on a little digital vacay, starting this weekend, for 7 days. I'd love for you to join me. Just practice being in the present moment, with no distractions. The real deal.

I hope you find some time this season to commit to several days of a digital cleanse of sorts. If you'd like to join me on this round, please do!! If you do, I would highly suggest taking time to create something beautiful or meaningful. Or connecting with Mother Nature and spending time outdoors. It's SO good for your soul. I promise, you won't be disappointed...

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU TOOK A DIGITAL CLEANSE? WAS IT CHALLENGING? DID YOU GO THROUGH TECHNOLOGY WITHDRAWALS? HOW DID YOU FEEL DURING THAT PERIOD? AND HOW DID YOU FEEL AFTERWARDS? PLEASE, SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS BELOW.

AND...IF YOU'D LIKE TO STAY IN THE LOOP FOR UPCOMING CREATIVE CLASSES AND COACHING SESSIONS, PLEASE sIGN UP FOR UPDATES below.
