Art Journal Spread Inspired by El Capitan, Santa Sarbara

art journal spread by artist and creativity coach desiree east

Hello Creative Soul,

Summer is upon us here in the Northern Hemisphere, and we planned on a couple of late spring camping trips as we closed off the school year. First Big Sur, then El Capitan, exploring our favorite local spots along the Central Coast of California.

I intentionally chose to go off grid, turn my phone off, and reconnect with my DSLR camera. We were deep into eclipse and retrogrades...are we out yet, and how are YOU doing?

We’ve been fortunate to have created a small homeschooling crew for Kirra and her friends over this last year. They absolutely love each other so much. The giggling and endless playtime...where do they get SO much energy?? Gimme some o’dat!! And equally important are the incredible mamas that I have bonded with over the last couple of years. I’m grateful to have been able to develop such deep friendships as a mother, and whew, the growth and support I’ve received from these women, I hold deep in my heart.

Mothers need that emotional support…it’s an essential part of being able to navigate life’s ups and downs. I’ve been contemplating circling up again and creating a CREATIVE self-care circle for mamas again. (Please contact me to let me know if you’re interested, or simply enter your email below to sign up for updates).

We had some quiet moments to create some art and pull some cards. This spread in my art journal is inspired by the tarot cards I pulled: Knower, The World, and Leader. Mixed media: Torn collage, watercolor, pastels, and acrylic paints. If you’re interested in a private reading and creative clarity sesh, please book a session below. Thank you!!
