MONOCHROMATIC sketchbook project 2012 by desiree east This is my submission for the Sketchbook Project 2012 World Tour, hosted by the wonderful folks of Art House Co-op at the Brooklyn Art Library in New York.

My Creative Process for the Sketchbook Project:

I reconstructed my sketchbook into a Japanese style 'Orihon', or folded accordion book. I started sketching with circles and went from there, allowing my mind and hand to freely guide my pen and paintbrush on the paper. The images evolved from page to page with no particular plan, and this was the result:

The Sketchbook Project is a constantly evolving library of artists' sketchbooks from across the globe.

This year thousands of sketchbooks will be exhibited at art spaces in 14 cities. After the tour, they will be archived in the permanent collection of the Brooklyn Art Library .

If you are an Art House Co-op artist, I would love to hear from you! Please leave a comment below or connect with me via Facebook and Twitter...I would love to see your work. If you are not yet an Art House artist, I highly recommend participating in any of their amazing projects. It is a great (and FUN) way to exercise your creative skills while being part of a wonderful global community of artists.
