sound affects art (have you been to one of these?)

My brother invited me to an interactive art exhibition called Sound Affects Art . It was showing at the Think Tank Gallery , smack dab in the middle of the Fashion District in Downtown Los Angeles (a.k.a. the 'Garment District').
My husband, the angel that he his, accompanied me to this event, and this was the first time he's been to the Garment District. I was kind of excited to go, because I haven't been in years. My parents used to take us there to go shopping for school clothes. They were hip...still are, infact. (I've got the hippest parents around). If you've ever met them, you know where I'm comin' from.
Anyway, I was reminiscing about how good we had it. All of those great deals on thee cutest tops, jeans, boots, jackets...and accessories up the ying-yang. And then, speaking of ying-yang, we'd finish the day eating dinner in Chinatown. Ah, the life...(thanks, Mom and Dad!)
Well, as I'm telling my husband albout the good 'ol days, we exited off of 18th Street, missed a turn, and almost got lost. (Not really, though, cause I've got mad navigation skills and a very good sense of direction). And as I kept yapping away (because of the fancy Starbucks espresso drink that was pulsing through my vains), we finally found the Think Tank Gallery. The name, by the way, reminds me of my favorite radio talk show peeps, whom I miss sooooo much: The Triplets - Frosty, Heidi and Frank. If any of you know who I am talking about, they were H.I.L.A.R.I.O.US. (right???)
So, we finally found a parking spot...and, YAY!!!...We didn't have to pay the meter parking after 9pm. And we didn't get mugged...double yay! That's always a plus. (Because if you haven't been to the outskirts of Downtown L.A. in the middle of the night, it's kinda like being in a movie, where you get mugged.)
We found the gallery, which is a beautiful open space...a HUGE flat (not exaggerating), with nice white walls, great lighting, and a wide variety of art hanging from its walls. You can hear live music playing in the back, and guests walking around with their Skullcandy Headphones (guess what I want for Christmas, and guess what you're getting for Christmas...)
As we waited for my brother, Kalae, we headed first for the wine/beer bar, of course, and then wandered around the gallery, admiring the artwork hanging on the walls. Then, when he finally arrived, and we all grabbed our Skullcandies, and listened to the tunes that correlated to each individual artist's work...pretty cool concept!
Kalae briefly introduced me to Logan Walden, the mastermind behind Sound Affects Art who is eager to introduce this experience to Lightning in a Bottle and Burning Man. Now that would be sick. So, whether at your local gallery or at a music festival, keep your eyes out for this exhibit...it's definitely one worth checking out.
