Creating Art Through the Lens of Motherhood
When I was pregnant with my daughter, I had no idea what I had in store for me. Little did I know, the journey of motherhood would blend seamlessly with my roles as an artist and creativity coach. Balancing the demands of nurturing a new life alongside fostering creativity in others presented both challenges and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Before I had my daughter, I had all the time in the world to dive deep into my art and creativity coaching business. Every brushstroke and each coaching session was filled with a sense of freedom and possibility. After 10 years of believing I couldn’t have children, deep transformational life coaching and the therapeutic benefits of art helped me find peace. At 40, I unexpectedly became pregnant, marking a turning point.
I continued to paint while my precious daughter was nestled in my womb. Each brushstroke was a moment of meditation, envisioning a peaceful home birth. Little did I know, that soon after finishing the painting, I would unexpectedly welcome my daughter into the world six weeks ahead of schedule. It was a gentle reminder that life's plans can swiftly change, catching us by surprise.
So, there I was, unexpectedly thrust into the throes of motherhood six weeks earlier than anticipated. There was no serene home birth, no beautifully adorned nursery awaiting us. Instead, it was just me, my tiny 3lb 13 oz preemie baby, and my devoted husband navigating through the challenges of the NICU, all of us in survival mode. In the subsequent weeks, months, and even the first year, our lives spun into a whirlwind of late-night feedings, overwhelming emotions, and a newfound sense of responsibility.
While caring for my baby felt instinctual, I found myself grappling with a profound identity shift into motherhood that fundamentally altered my world.
Postpartum was no joke, and I found solace amid the chaos by immersing myself in the soothing embrace of Mother Ocean and releasing my emotions through the strokes of paint on canvas.
Amid the late-night feedings and diaper changes, finding moments to connect with nature and unleash my creativity became my lifeline, offering me a sense of peace and fulfillment during those turbulent times.
While embracing the routine of taking my baby for soothing beach walks every day, I would often find solace in visiting my canvas and painting while she peacefully snuggled in the baby carrier, skin-to-skin.
As my daughter turned one month old, I completed the third of a series of elephant paintings, capturing the matriarchial strength and power of female elephants and the tender connection between a mother elephant and her calf. This piece now adorns her bedroom wall, serving as a poignant symbol of our unbreakable bond filled with love and warmth.
Since then, we have been painting and creating with each other, side-by-side in our cozy beach studio filled with colorful paints, brushes, and endless possibilities.
Creating together has become our cherished ritual for quiet moments of reflection, a means to center ourselves amidst the chaos of daily life, a source of boundless inspiration, and a pure expression of the joy (and silliness!) that art-making infuses into our shared existence.
As a mother, I have come to realize that art has had a profound impact on my life. Not only has it allowed me to express myself creatively, but it has also helped me to connect with my child on a deeper level, and in the most playful ways.
Through art, I have been able to teach her about the world around her in a way that is both fun and educational. Whether we are painting, drawing, or sculpting with clay, art has become an integral part of our family life.
It has helped us to bond and has given us a way to express our emotions and thoughts in a meaningful way. Inviting creativity into our daily lives has enhanced motherhood for me in ways that I could have never imagined.
Creativity and art are often undervalued in our fast-paced society, yet they hold immense power to transform our lives.
Reconnecting with these aspects of ourselves is crucial for tapping into our deepest authenticity and living a life filled with vibrancy and purpose.
As a mother, an intuitive artist, and a transformational life and creativity coach, my goal is to inspire you to incorporate new creative wellness practices into your routine.
Rather than viewing it as another task to add to your never-ending list of responsibilities as a mother, consider embracing this personal painting practice as a way to nurture yourself and show self-compassion for yourself and your child(ren).
Engaging in art-making can be a powerful form of self-care, offering you a moment of solace and creativity. Whether you choose to paint alone or involve your child(ren) in the process, this ritual can become a sacred time for you to connect with your inner child and explore the depths of your creativity.
Embrace this invitation to PLAY and discover the CREATIVE WISDOM that your inner child has to offer.
Over 80% of us share that they have suffered a creative wound, like a critical art teacher or family member. Or maybe someone made fun of your art or your creative dreams were severely shut down around the kitchen table because, “There’s no money in art.” In this course, TOGETHER, we are reclaiming our truth as CREATORS.
This course will initiate you into a whole new perspective on motherhood & all it has to offer to you.
It's not about deepening into how to create art as a product - it's about deepening into the portal art-making offers you passage back to YOUR truth as a mother. Reclaiming & getting to know that truth changes everything.

I am a California-based artist best recognized for creating mixed-media intuitive abstract paintings. Sacred Symbols, Mother Nature, the Ocean, and the Cosmos all inspire my art. Each piece of artwork has a story, is multi-layered with color, texture, and patterns, and is created with love and meaningful intentions.
Having been born in Hawaii, surfing since childhood, and residing on the California coast, I am influenced by my strong connection to the natural beauty of our terrestrial and marine ecosystems and the skies above. My paintings further examine spiritual awareness, our mission and lessons on planet Earth, and our connection to the world, one other, and our higher wisdom.
From my early days of exploring the natural world with children and adults as a naturalist to teaching art to young, brilliant souls, and to designing gorgeous outdoor living spaces for high-end landscape clients, connecting with the world around me as a CREATIVE CATALYST has always been my work.
It’s what lights me up.
Loving all things related to art, nature, and everything beautiful (including the remarkable people who surround me), wisdom has taught me that sharing my passion for creativity empowers others to tap into a world of creative thinking that promotes self-growth within their own hearts, minds, and souls.
I want to explore and share with you the endless sources of inspiration available in this infinite Universe we live in. I invite you to join me on this journey.

Supplies used in the lesson:
36" x 48" canvas, acrylic paints (there are no colors you HAVE TO have... red, white, blue, yellow, magenta, black are basics. We also love turquoise, purple...), brushes (including one BIG brush-- could be a house painting brush), water, rags, palette (we love recycled food containers for palettes).
For ART JOURNALING:
To start, you’ll need a watercolor journal or mixed media journal. Watercolors, acrylic paints, and/or gouache paints. You’ll also drawing materials, such as pens/markers and/or paint pens.
If you have extra materials to play with, grab those, too! I will go over more art materials that can be layered in your art journals as we move through the course.
