how to make a journey wand

My daughter and I made these gorgeous Journey Wands today - I think I’ve found my new hobby!! We’ve made a simpler version of these when my daughter was a toddler (you can find them in highlights under ‘Kids Art’ on my Instagram profile), but these are next-level with the addition of a quartz crystal and bird feathers.

This craft was inspired by our Kids Moon Club curriculum, which we love - I highly recommend it!! We made our wands a little differently than the proposed lesson, but this is where our creative hearts wanted to take us today. You can see my mini how-to video linked below.

All you need is:

✨ a stick
✨ yarn
✨ glue (we used gorilla glue)
✨ crystals/stones/feathers
✨ rubber bands to attach natural items to your stick while hiking

Journey wands are linked to Aboriginal origins and are used as visual and emotional representations of nature walks.

While you’re out on a hike, you can invite your child to collect natural items to attach to their wands as a memory of their adventures…or if your kiddo is anything like mine, use it as a magical hiking stick that has special healing powers. Enjoy!!
