have you ever tried painting, marathon style?

Well, that is what I have been up to in the last couple of weeks. Painting like a mad woman. As part of my Creatively Fit Coaching Training, we are now going through another program: a Painting Marathon! It is so much fun, very addicting, and such a treat at the end of the day. Basically, as we paint, each painting counts as one mile. There are 26 miles total, but for training purposes, we are doing a shorter version --- a 10K, if you will. I have two canvases going on at the same time, just in case I feel the need to do more than one at a time --- painting right over the same image.

I know what you are thinking: 'But, um, why on earth would you want to do that?'

Because it's SOOOO fun. Not only are we exercising our right brain hemispheres --- our right-brain 'muscle', so-to-speak --- but, we are learning how to move on, training our minds how not to be SO attached...being able to 'let go.'

Unfortunately, my husband really likes the humming bird painting...so we are in, somewhat, of a negotiation phase right now, with that particular canvas...I have to admit, I kinda like it, too. So, we are just enjoying it for an extra couple of days...if I do end up painting over it, it's not going away for good, it will still be part of the painting and part of the story. And if anything, it has served as inspiration for future projects. Plus, that's what cameras are for, right?

This whole process physiologically changes how your mind thinks, and you can essentially, train your brain to create change --- not just on canvas, but in life, as well. In life, if you want to create change, sometimes you have to let go of the things that once were, in order to make room for new ideas to flourish.

Here are the first phases of my Painting Marathon. It has been a joy, and MUCH more enticing to me than a real marathon --- you know, the kind where you put sneakers on and have to run for miles and miles and put your body through physical torture (although, I applaud your endurance, marathoner peeps --- I admire what you do, really).

More photos to come soon. I look forward to coaching you through a Painting Marathon, myself. Remember to get on the list and sign up for updates on future creative coaching sessions...I would be delighted to have you!!
